Photovoltaic (pv) net metering solar roof at Kifissia, Athens
The system was designed for a nominal power of 5.5 kW in order to cover all the annual energy needs of a newly built energy house in order to save energy and reduce electricity bills by up to 70%. The needs for cooling, heating and domestic hot water are covered by a heat pump system and the required electricity is provided by the photovoltaic panels on the roof in combination with the electrical network. The metal mesh of the base was studied so that the thermal insulation of the roof remains intact without holes on the floor, and the anchoring is reinforced at points on the side wall with a double waterproofing layer. The system will be expandable in the future with more photovoltaic panels to cover extra consumption loads such as electric car and other devices.
